Robyn North Zaman

Somatic Psychotherapist and Counsellor

Soma is a Greek word meaning “the living body in its wholeness”. Somatic psychotherapy offers a profoundly effective way of working that brings together counselling and psychotherapy with body awareness or embodiment to create change on both the emotional and physical levels.

Somatic Psychotherapy uses awareness of self and other, body and mind, boundaries and connected relationships as the primary tools of healing. It seeks to deepen our relationship to our emotions, our behaviour and the very experience of life in order to create freedom, spontaneity and choice in our lives.

Self reflection and gaining awareness and recognition are the first steps towards achieving the changes we want to make if life seems difficult or we seem to keep falling into the same patterns.

Our life’s experiences influence us as a whole, setting up patterns of behaviour and thoughts that may no longer serve us. Robyn seeks to help people find clarity by becoming aware of the relationship between their feelings and thoughts and the choices they make.

People often talk of the pieces of the puzzle falling into place.

Using the relational talking and listening of counselling and psychotherapy combined when appropriate with bodywork modalities such as Shiatsu and Biodynamic Massage, Robyn seeks to empower people by helping them become aware of the relationship between their physical body, thoughts and feelings.

“Through embodiment we can be simultaneously tender and strong, fierce and vulnerable, openhearted yet definite.”

- Susan Aposhyan

“Biodynamic Massage is essentially an invitation to change.”
- Clover Southwell
